Welcome to Global Ocean Dynamics Ltd. We are a dynamic firm bringing creative solutions to global challenges. We specialize in the provision of real-time global surface current drifters, primarily for oceanography, search and rescue and marine oil spill tracking. Our exclusive product: the Pathfinder surface current drifter is the lowest cost technologically advanced real-time self-locating datum marker buoy.

Typical Uses:
Maritime Search Planning
Oil spill tracking
Operational Ocean Forecasting
Tracking elements in the water (algae/harmful algal blooms, pollutants, chemicals, biological materials, debris)
Outfall/Effluent studies
Meteorology/Weather Forecasting
Contaminant tracking
Circulation pattern studies
Climate studies/forecasting
Water quality studies
Current studies
River / harbour water flow studies
Calibration/Validation/data assimilation
April 2012
The Pathfinder now allows the owner/user to change the reporting interval after the buoy has been deployed by sending it an e-mail message.
June 2011
Pathfinder buoys used to track Petermann Ice Islands off Labrador Canada. One of the buoys is the new long lasting extended battery version. It lasted six months reporting hourly.
March 2011
Another sucessfull field test off Nova Scotia Canada.
Feb 2011
Highly sucessfull field experiment carried out on the Grand Banks of Newfoundland with the Pathfinder reporting reliably for a period in excess of 70 days.
July 2010:
The ocean drift experiment has been highly sucessful, gathering useful ocean current data and proving the buoy design.
April 2010:
The Pathfinder real-time self-locating surface current drifter is entering the final testing. This is a culmination of several years work to provide accurate global surface currents.
